Eco Salvaged & Naturally Blue Stained

Installed floor.

Blue Mountain Pine Floors are salvaged from trees killed by the Mountain Pine Beetle. What is claimed to be a product of global warming, the Pine Beetle infestation has had staggering effects on Lodgepole Pine trees. Now able to survive the warmer winters in the North, the pine beetle travels through the forest when conditions are right and makes his home in the Lodgepole Pine. He works his way into the bark and eventually kills the tree. His calling card is the introduction of a blue stain on the outer sapwood layers of the trees. This natural discoloration creates a beautiful contrasting characteristic of Blue-Grey reminiscent of the Pioneer days. We have aptly named it "Blue Mountain Pine".

Installed floor. The Natural Blue Stain creates a unique character when properly harvested, dried and milled. Since the trees are virtually dead and will eventually begin to fall down, our harvesting practices help protect the forest from fires and assist a new generation of growth through replanting.

Produced in widths of 5 ¼" & 7", Blue Mountain Pine Floors are Milled from select 1" planks and machined to ¾" thickness (solid flooring) or 5/8" (engineered flooring). Traditional tongue and groove profiles are milled on the sides and ends to precision standards in random lengths to 8 ft.

We are proud to offer our customers an original product produced by Mother Nature that supports both environmental sustainability and economic viability.

The resultant effect of the beetle killed pine we call "Pioneer Grade" (which carries some blue stain, the odd bug hole, tight knots and colorful grain swirl). The above house photos are a 5 ¼" wide plank, tinted in our "Vintage Cheery" stain.

Fine Antique Finishes are produced by hand distressing and staining each plank to suit you design requirements. Each floor is coated with OSMO Hardwax Oil finish which allows its natural resins to enhance the beauty of Lodgepole Pine.
