Behind the flooring
We can all agree that there’s something special about hardwood flooring. Beautiful and timeless, natural and warm, it truly is like no other product. But even within the hardwood flooring industry, there are things about Woodland Wideplank Flooring that make us unique among our peers. Is it the wood we use, our attention to detail, our sustainable practices? Maybe it’s just our good looks and charm…
Our Products: local and sustainable wood
Everything we buy is from right here in British Columbia, and the majority of our products are harvested within an hour or two of our Vancouver Island facility. When available, we use wood from natural forest salvage (i.e., beetle-killed, fire-killed and wind-fallen trees), as well as wood from small family-owned woodlots that practice principles of sustainability. Douglas fir, red alder, Blue Mountain pine and Pacific Coast maple are the staples of our flooring. Each has its own special look and feel and is available in random lengths of up to eight and ten feet and various widths.
Our Process: quality production and service
All aspects of our production process are controlled in-house. From kiln drying and milling to packaging and delivery arrangements, we ensure the highest level of quality is maintained beginning at harvest through to installation. And because we work closely with our customers providing custom millwork and staining, each project is guaranteed to be unique and suited to our clients’ specific needs and desires.
Our Philosophy: environmentally and socially conscious
We bring in our lumber from only environmentally friendly sources. Eco-certified, salvaged or privately farmed woods are tracked through our processing, which allows each floor to come with a “Certificate of Origin.” By using natural forest mortality wood and fast-growing hardwoods, such as alder and maple, we are practicing sustainability. Buying local and keeping our production processes on-site keeps our carbon footprint minimal. And using those nearby suppliers and employing local workers helps keep money in the local economy.
As a 100% Vancouver Island-owned business providing 100% BC jobs using 100% renewable BC products, we are proud. And our customers should be proud, too!
